Whispers of Nature

"Trust the Lord,
to guide and hold,
nurture and protect you..."
Whispered a little bird to me
before it off and flew.

But do I trust?
My query echoed 'round about me,
even then my heart did know
that oft as not my trust is sorely lacking.

My mind perplexed and spirit vexed
I sank onto the ground,
"Take heart dear one, 'tis a lesson ever learning."
Declared the wind, swirling golden leaves around.

"He feeds the birds of the air,
how much more will for you He care?"
Quoth the sun,
caressing my cheek with his warm flare.

"He clothes us anew each spring!"
the flowers did cry,
beckoning for me to join them in the field;
lying amongst them, they pointed to the sky.

Looking up, I saw the clouds darkening,
I rose to leave,
but a tree bent down and sheltered me.
"The Lord gives us rain, our lives sustain.
How much more will He provide for thee?"

The raindrops fell, "do not fear!" they called.
One made its way through boughs above me,
"Though storms may come,  He is always near."
The sun poked his head out above the tree.

Light shone through the grey clouds,
"He will always be there,
no matter how dark it may seem."
Breathed a passing hare.

"Trust the Lord,
to guide and hold,
nurture and protect you..."
Whispered a little bird to me
before it off and flew.
